Welcome to the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) examination portal.  This portal is designed to provide detailed information about eligibility, scheduling, and other important information to make the process efficient and easy to understand.

The IBSC provides a standardized approach to competency validation that relies on a single, independent, profession-based, and collaborative Board from the paramedicine community.  The IBSC examinations for Certified Community Paramedic (CP-C®), Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C®), Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C®), Certified Tactical Paramedic (TP-C®), and the Certified Tactical Responder (TR-C®) examinations are well established and have become the recognized standard for competency by providers around the world.  Other examinations, such as the Certified Designated Infection Control Officer (DICO-C) that was developed in partnership with the National Association of Public Safety Infection Control Officers (NAPSICO), and the Certified Medical Transport Safety Professional (MTSP-C®) – that was developed in partnership with the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) – are ways the IBSC continues to lead in specialty certification for EMS, fire, law enforcement, public safety, and our military communities.  The IBSC offers the only specialty examination process of its kind for professionals working in community medicine, critical care and air medical transport, infection control, tactical, remote, and austere environments.  Currently, there are more than 10,000 IBSC certified specialty providers worldwide.

IBSC offers the following three testing methods:

  1. Computer Based Testing (CBT) – delivered at Prometric Testing Centers.
  2. Onsite Testing – available at specific locations (e.g.: educational conferences or sponsored test sites) delivered in traditional Paper Pencil Based Testing (PBT) or IBSC-Mobile Exam Delivery (MED Box) delivered on-site using laptop computers.
  3. ProProctor™ – Remote Live Proctoring (RPT) – utilizes your internet connected computer, camera, and microphone at any location.  (You must confirm your computer meets these requirements by performing a system check prior to scheduling your examination.)

Eligibility

Candidates must complete their application on the IBSC website and upload the required documentation before eligibility is approved. Paramedic-level exams require submission of an unrestricted paramedic license.  Other exams may have slightly different requirements.  Follow this link to review eligibility requirements.  All candidates must register via the IBSC website.  Start the examination registration process here

Once your eligibility has been reviewed and approved, you will receive an e-mail with the testing confirmation number to use when scheduling the examination on the Prometric scheduling site.
