April 8, 2011 NC DOI Notice: CE Exemption Eliminated
As of January 1, 2012, waiver from insurance CE will only be available for military and medical reasons (see notice above). Agents who may have qualified for the AGE exemption on or before December 31, 2011 must have applied for the exemption on or before December 31, 2011
Reinstatement of License. If your license expired for failing to meet your continuing education requirements, your license may be reinstated by completing the continuing education requirements within four months after the end of your compliance year and paying a reinstatement fee of $75.00. North Carolina Department of Insurance Waiver Request Form
Effective October 1, 2010, only those licensees who are unable to comply with continuing education requirements due to military service or long-term medical disability may request a waiver for continuing education requirements. Individuals who, prior to October 1, 2010, had been granted an "experience" exemption from continuing education requirements for age (65 or older) and years of licensure (continuously licensed in at least one line of insurance for 25 years or more) will continue to be exempt from the general CE requirements. The mandatory flood and/or ethics requirements for these individuals will still apply.
