Both of the postponed March/April and September 2020 IBCLC examinations will be held September 8-25, 2020.
IBLCE will be offering the IBCLC examination at Test Centres in all the languages that are translated. Prometric offers Live Remote Proctoring in English, so this will be an option for candidates taking their examination in English.
Please visit the IBLCE website, www.iblce.org, for information regarding the 2020 examinations, including the option of Live Remote Proctoring in English as offered by Prometric.
IBLCE®, or the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners®, is the independent international certification body conferring the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant® (IBCLC®) credential.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultants function and contribute as members of the maternal-child health team. They provide care in a variety of settings, while making appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community support resources. Working together with mothers, families, policymakers, and society, IBCLC certificants provide expert breastfeeding and lactation care, promote changes that support breastfeeding, and help reduce the risks of not breastfeeding. This page provides information about scheduling the IBCLC examination via computer-based-testing (CBT). Please navigate through the links on this page for relevant information about scheduling the examination.
To apply to sit the IBCLC examination and for more information about the IBCLC certification, please visit the IBLCE website at www.iblce.org
As an international organisation, IBLCE offers the IBCLC certification examination in a number of languages and has certificants in over 100 countries around the world. IBLCE uses British English (UK) in its publications and uses the British English version of the examination as the foundation for all translated versions of its examination.
Since there are relatively few substantive differences between British English and American English and because British English is the most common form of English used worldwide, the spelling used on the English version of the IBLCE examination is British English. Where terms differ between the two forms of English, the British term is noted first with American English noted second, e.g. nappy (diaper).
Also note that the IBCLC examination includes both US and Metric weights and measures. Metric measurements are noted first with US measurements noted second in parentheses, e.g. 3.74kg (8lb. 4oz.).
Please visit the IBLCE website at www.iblce.org for an up-to-date list of languages in which the IBCLC examination is translated.
Appointments should be scheduled as early as possible prior to the examination administration date. Please visit the IBLCE website at www.iblce.org for examination dates and scheduling deadlines.
If you are scheduling your CBT appointment online and a seat is not available within a 5-mile radius, you will need to expand your search to a 10-mile radius, then a 15-mile radius and then a 20-mile radius until you find an available seat. If you encounter issues scheduling online, please contact Prometric Customer Service at the phone number that corresponds to your location.
After you schedule your test, Prometric will send a confirmation letter listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test centre.
