Effective October 1, anyone who obtains a new producer license with Life will be required to complete a 4-hour educational course before they may transact the business of Life insurance. Below is the link to the OSI page on the topic. The rule becomes effective 10/1/2022.

Effective July 1, 2021, any New Mexico resident who`s license has been expired for more than one year will be required to pass an exam prior to the issuance of a license. NM Resident Producer License Residency Review
Candidates should follow these basic steps in order to obtain a New Mexico Insurance license.
Once you are set up and logged into your account, you are able to schedule your test.
PLEASE NOTE: you must have an account and select NM’s insurance test in order to schedule online.
The New Mexico Department of Insurance and Prometric are pleased to announce the ability to schedule your New Mexico Insurance exams in two ways either in a physical test center in a remotely proctored testing location using Prometric’s ProProctor™ application.
A.) To schedule exam at a Test Center location
Once you are set up and logged into your account, you can schedule your test. Select the “Schedule Test Center” button. You then enter your eligibility number (Social Security Number/SSN) and the first four letters of your last name. to schedule your exam.
B.) To schedule for a Remotely Proctored Exam
You may schedule remotely proctored for your New Mexico Insurance exams through your online account. Once you are set up and logged into your account, you can schedule your test. Select the “Schedule Remote Proctor” button. You then enter your eligibility number (Social Security Number/SSN) and the first four letters of your last name. to schedule your exam.
In order to confirm your computer meets the technical specifications please perform a system check prior to scheduling your exam.

** Please note that test history outlined within your candidate profile will only reflect your Prometric test history starting 10/1/2018 and will not house testing history prior to this date.
