Locating a Test Center
How can I find a test center near me?
Finding a test center is closely linked with scheduling an exam. Not all exams are offered at all centers, so in order to find a center near you, you must first indicate what exam you are interested in taking.
From the Prometric.com homepage, search for -or select-the exam you want to take from test taker menu. You'll be taken to the "home page" of the organization whose exam it is. From there, click the action buttons on the left-hand side. Follow the instructions on the screen as it walks you through the process of finding a center and scheduling your exam. Even if you're not ready to actually schedule your exam yet, you'll still need to walk through the on screen steps until you get to the part where you find a test center - if at that point you're not ready to actually schedule, simply close out of the page.
Is there a way to search for a test center near me without going through the whole process of first selecting my exam, etc.?
No. The reason you first need to indicate what exam in which you are interested is because not all exams are offered at all centers. For example, while the nearest test center to your home may be one mile away, that center may not deliver the exam you'll eventually want to take. Your search for a test center location will turn up in the results only those centers that offer your exam.
Why do I first have to specify what exam I am taking to find a center location?
Because not all exams are offered at all centers. While the nearest test center to your home may be only one mile away, that center may not deliver the exam you'll eventually want to take.
The last time I searched for a test center location a site nearby came up; this time the results show that the center nearest to me is farther away - what's going on?
Our test center locator is directly tied to the exam you want to take. Therefore, when you search for a test center, the search results will only show test center sites that have availability on the dates you have indicated that you'd like to take your exam.
How do I find out if my testing center location is closed?
Register, Reschedule, Cancel or Confirm
How do I schedule a Prometric exam?
The quickest and easiest way to schedule your exam is to do it online, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And since you’re already on our website, you’re already partly done! Here’s how to do the rest:
Click the "Find my Exam" button under the "Test Taker" tab on our website homepage, and search for the name of your exam. Once on the exam page, click action links on the left-hand side and simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. You’ll go through a handful of steps that will include finding a test center where your exam is available, entering your personal information, supplying eligibility information, if necessary and payment screens.
What information should I be prepared to provide when I schedule my exam?
Each exam sponsor requires different information, so you should be prepared to provide all these pieces of information. However, you may only need some of them to schedule your exam.
- Your name - The name used to schedule your appointment must EXACTLY match the name shown on your identification. At a minimum, the identification must be a valid, government-issued ID that shows your name in the English alphabet, your signature and your photograph.
- Your date of birth.
- Contact phone numbers - If there is a problem, we will use these numbers to reach you.
- Mailing address - Please provide the address to which you would like any paper correspondence sent.
- Exam number and title
- Eligibility information, if required
- E-mail address - Once again for contact purposes, this is often the fastest and most effective means of contact. Many test sponsors require e-mail contact information for registration.
Can I cancel and/or reschedule my exam appointment via the Prometric Web site?
Yes. Many exam appointments can be cancelled and/or rescheduled through the Prometric website. Click the "Find my Exam" button under the "Test Taker" tab on our website homepage, and search for the name of your exam. Once on the exam page, click the “reschedule/cancel” action link on the left-hand side, and simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
You will need to provide the confirmation number you received when you scheduled your exam initially. You can find your confirmation number on the email that was sent to you when you scheduled your exam. If you do not have your confirmation number, please contact our customer service center to find the correct contact details for your location.
How far in advance do I need to reschedule my exam so that I do not get charged a fee?
The fee to reschedule an exam varies by testing organization, as does the amount of time you have to do so without a penalty. To review rescheduling timeliness and penalties procedures for your exam, please click on the Test Taker link here and search for the name of your exam.
How long will it take for my eligibility or authorization to test to be downloaded into the system so that I can schedule an appointment to test?
Please note that not all test sponsors require eligibility, therefore, you may be able to test immediately. For those programs requiring eligibility, the files are downloaded and test appointment scheduling is available within 48-72 hours of receiving authorization from the test sponsor.
Why would my local test center tell me that they don't schedule appointments?
How do I obtain the appointment date and time I want to take my exam?
When you go to our online registration Web site or speak to a representative from our Contact Center, you will be asked to provide your preferred test date. The first available time slot on that date will be offered to you. If your preferred appointment date is not available, you’ll be able to search for, and identify, an alternative date.
My exam is scheduled for today, however the testing center is closed. What should I do?
Sometimes unforeseen circumstances require a test center to unexpectedly close, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Should this happen, we will make every effort to contact so that you don’t show up at the center. We will try contacting you by e-mail and by telephone, so please ensure that the contact information you provide during the scheduling and registration process is accurate.
Should your center unexpectedly close for any reason, you will be contacted by the Prometric rescheduling department within 48-72 hours to reschedule your exam.
How far in advance must you schedule an exam?
It really depends on the exam. Some exams are only available for a few dates per year; others are available every day. Depending on the exam, Prometric may administer same-day exams, Monday through Friday. Your test sponsor may provide you with specific information for the examination you are trying to schedule.
I want to make sure my exam appointment is still scheduled to occur on my testing date. How can I confirm it?
Prometric will contact you in advance of your exam if your exam appointment is rescheduled/canceled via the email your original confirmation email was sent to. Unless notified otherwise, your exam appointment is still valid and occurring on the testing date you registered for.
To check the status of your testing center location, click Site Status List. To check the status of your exam appointment, click Prometric.com. You will need to provide the confirmation number, which you can find on the confirmation email you received when you scheduled your exam initially.
Who is my test sponsor/test owner?
Your test sponsor/owner is responsible for providing the test material – this also could be a state, an organization or an institution. A test sponsor/owner is not your employer or company sponsoring you to take an exam.
What payment methods may I use to pay for my examination?
Generally, we accept all major credit cards. For some exams programs we also accept certified bank checks, money orders or wire transfers.
How do I use a voucher to "pay" for my exam?
When you schedule your appointment online or by telephone, you will be asked to provide your method of payment. Provide your voucher number at this time. You may also present the voucher onsite at your local test center.
Prometric vouchers are non-returnable, non-refundable and may only be used for the type of test indicated on the voucher. Terms and conditions of use accompany each voucher order along with the expiration date. Vouchers may not be redeemed after the expiration date.
When will my credit card be charged?
Credit card processing time varies depending upon the exam. Your credit card may be charged from the time you schedule your appointment up to the time you are scheduled to test.
How can I request a receipt?
You can print your receipt yourself as part of the online scheduling and registration process, at the end of your payment transaction. There are some exams for which you do not pay Prometric directly, but rather you pay the testing organization whose test you are taking. In these cases, you must request a receipt from that organization, and not from Prometric.
Alternatively, you can contact us and request a confirmation letter, which includes the amount you paid for your exam.
How do I determine the cost of a particular exam?
The cost of any exam is dictated by the organization whose exam it is. You can likely find pricing information on that organization’s website. In addition, it will be visible at some point during the online scheduling and registration process.
If I cancel my exam, am I eligible for a refund?
Possibly. Whether or not you receive a refund for your cancelled exam depends on the exam you were scheduled to take, how far in advance you cancel your exam and the rules and procedures surrounding exam cancellation set forth by the organization whose exam it is. Each organization has its own rules surrounding how cancellations and refunds are handled, so please refer to the sponsoring organization for information specific to your exam.
After the Test
When will I receive my score reports?
That depends on the exam you've taken. How scores are reported, and when, is determined by the organization whose exam you've taken. In some cases, such as with many Information Technology exams, scores are available immediately following the exam and the test taker will know by the time he leaves the test center whether he passed. In other cases, the testing organization asks Prometric to send scores to them directly first, and then they send results to test takers. Please check with your exam sponsor for complete information.
How can I check the status of my certification? Why haven't I received it yet?
To obtain information about the status of your certification, you must contact the examination sponsor directly. Prometric delivers the exam on behalf of test sponsors, but the certification or license for which you are ultimately testing is managed by the organization whose exam you took.
Can I retest if I am not happy with my score?
Whether you are able to take your examination again depends on the test you're taking and the rules set forth by the testing organization whose exam it is. For many certification exams, test takers are permitted to test as many times as they wish, though some time there is a mandatory waiting period. If the exam requires that a test taker is "eligible," meaning that he has met certain pre-requisite criteria, the restrictions around the eligibility will determine whether you can retest. As the rules around retesting are unique to each organization, please check with your exam sponsor for complete information.
