Welcome to the scheduling page for your SAFE MLO test


PLEASE NOTE: If you have not paid for your test enrollment(s) through NMLS, you will need to log into your account via this link: NMLS login page.

If you have already paid for your enrollment then you can schedule your test by selecting the appropriate link above or by contacting Prometric’s Contact Center at: 877-671-6657. Appointments are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. The sooner an appointment is scheduled, the greater the likelihood of finding your preferred testing date(s), location(s) and time(s).

The SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 requires all licensed Mortgage Loan Originators to pass a test developed by NMLS. Each Loan Originator must take and pass the SAFE MLO Test in order to satisfy the SAFE test requirements of any single state jurisdiction.

IMPORTANT TEST POLICIES AND RULES OF CONDUCT

All candidates will be required to read and agree to the NMLS Rules of Conduct for Test Takers prior to taking the test.

All candidates are encouraged to read the MLO Testing Handbook – a detailed guide for the entire testing process (from creating an enrollment and scheduling a testing appointment to what to expect at the testing center, etc.)

Scheduling a test

Once a Mortgage Loan Originator has registered and paid for a test enrollment(s) through NMLS, an appointment can be scheduled for the corresponding test. Mortgage Loan Originators are encouraged to schedule a test appointment soon after obtaining an enrollment. Appointments are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. The sooner an appointment is scheduled, the greater the likelihood of finding a preferred testing date(s), location(s) and time(s).

Scheduling and rescheduling online allows you the option to see 3 months of availability in your local test center. You can book your exam or check on seat availability in your area, by selecting the appropriate link above.

RESCHEDULING POLICY

If you need to reschedule an appointment you will need to contact Prometric no later than 12:00 pm (in the time zone where the test is being taken) two business days prior to the scheduled appointment. You will need to provide Prometric with your confirmation number. There is no charge for rescheduling or canceling an appointment if the change is made in a timely manner. Untimely cancellation of an exam or failing to show for an appointment will result in the test enrollment window being closed, and the candidate must request and pay for a new enrollment window prior to scheduling a new test appointment. Individual testing sites are unable to schedule, reschedule or cancel appointments. For more information please review Section 5.1 of the MLO Handbook.

SPECIAL TEST ACCOMMODATIONS

If you would like to request a special accommodation for your test(s), please read the information below before scheduling your appointment. To request the special accommodation(s) approval, please contact the NMLS Accommodations team at 1-877-416-6657 and select Option 2. After your request is processed, you will receive further information for scheduling your test appointment.

Please note that any request to bring personal belongings into the testing room needs to be approved prior to scheduling your test appointment. Personal belongings include but are not limited to: prescription and non-prescription medications, medical devices, etc.
