The West Virginia Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) will be implementing regulation changes that affect education requirements for producers selling annuity products. This notification provides information to education providers about these changes.
Rules governing Suitability In Annuity Transactions (WV Legislative Rule Title 114, Series 11B) have changed (https://www.wvinsurance.gov/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=JHVBAuBrtao%3d&tabid=329&portalid=0&mid=889). The new requirements become effective June 8, 2023.
On Friday, July 14, 2023, West Virginia will inactivate Annuities courses approved under the Annuity course category that do not meet the updated best interest standards.
