Examination and Temporary Permit Application Process:

Please refer to the Delaware Board of Cosmetology and Barbering Candidate Manual for important information relating to the application process.  If this is your first time applying for licensure in Delaware by examination or a temporary permit, you must apply online by clicking the following link to start your application. The Delaware exam and temporary permit applications are available online through the Prometric/SMT Candidate Management System.

New Applicants will need to “Create a New Login” to access the Prometric/SMT Candidate Management application system.  Applicants who successfully complete their application and additional requirements will receive an “Authorization to Test” email from “SMT Notice”.

Exam Retakes:  Candidates who are unsuccessful in passing their theory or practical exams will receive a new authorization to test letter, which will be emailed to their email address on file.  Candidates will need to schedule and pay their exam fees as outlined in the “Exam Scheduling” section of this manual.
