ATCB Examination (ATCBE) candidates have a 6-month testing window. There are now two ways to take your ATCBE exam. ATCBE candidates can take their exam either in a Prometric Testing Center or through a remotely proctored internet-enabled location that must meet the requirements, where they must provide a computer with a camera, microphone, and an internet connection.

Scheduling your ATCBE Exam

1. Schedule your exam at a Prometric Testing Center

Schedule

2. To schedule a Remotely Proctored Exam

Schedule

Confirm your computer’s compatibility to allow remote proctoring first. Online, remote exams are offered using Prometric’s ProProctor™ application.
IMPORTANT: Candidates must utilize a personal computer to take their exam remotely. Company or employer-owned computers may have restrictions and may not allow installation of Prometric’s ProProctor™ application. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that their computer meets Prometric’s ProProctor™ requirements for remote testing.

** Before choosing the Remotely Proctored Exam option, review the ProProctor User Guide to understand the requirements for remote proctoring fully.**

For a remotely proctored exam, you must supply the computer, which must have a camera, microphone, and an internet connection, and be able to install a lightweight app before the test event. You can take the exam online while a Prometric proctor oversees the examination process remotely. To first ensure your computer meets the technical specifications, please do so by performing a system check.

ProProctor™ System Requirements:

  • Laptop/PC Power Source: Please plug your device directly into a power source unattached from a docking station.
  • Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768 is the minimum resolution required
  • Operating System: Windows 7 or higher | MacOS 10.13 or higher
  • Web Browser: Current version of Google Chrome
  • Internet Connection Speed: 0.5 Mbps or greater.  Please position your device where you can receive the strongest signal. For the best experience, please use an Ethernet cable to connect directly to the router.

Special Exam Accommodations

ALL accommodations for the ATCB Examination must be approved by the ATCB before scheduling your exam. If you requested special examination accommodation(s) and were approved by the ATCB, depending on the accommodation and to ensure the best testing experience, you may need to schedule and take your exam at a Prometric Test Center. Examples of accommodations that require scheduling with a Prometric Test Center are ESL accommodations, paper and pencil, and special equipment or software. Please note that some accommodations require additional processing time and direct action from Prometric’s specialized Testing Accommodation team to ensure readiness for test day, and the first available appointment date will reflect that readiness time period.

Rescheduling or Canceling Your Exam – Remote or In-Person

Candidates MUST make and confirm all exam reschedules or cancelations through the Website (see links below) or through direct contact with a representative with the Contact Center. Candidates are responsible for rescheduling fees at the time of rescheduling.

Candidate reschedules/Cancels 30 days or more before the test date.

No Fee.

Candidate reschedules or cancels 5-29 days before the scheduled test date.

$35.00 per reschedule/cancelation.

Candidate reschedules less than five (5) days, does not show up for the exam, or arrives 30 minutes past the scheduled test time.

The ATCB incurs the Test Delivery fee for the scheduled exam, and the candidate is responsible for any additional costs incurred by the ATCB.

Candidates are responsible for cancelation or no-show fees incurred by the ATCB. Exceptions may be made and decided upon by the ATCB Board of Directors regarding extenuating circumstances outside of a candidate’s control.

Feedback & Commentary on Test Items
Candidates can now comment on questions and provide feedback on test questions. Please note that time spent commenting on an item will take away from the allotted four (4) hours for testing. Alternatively, test feedback can be sent to the ATCB after the completion of your exam and on your own time at exams@atcb.org.

ATCBE Results
You will receive your score results upon completion of the ATCBE. You will also have access to your results via your Prometric portal. The ATCB will process results within two to three weeks of your test date.

If you took the ATCBE to meet state licensure requirements, your results will be delivered to your licensing board within two to three weeks of your test date.

Appeals
The ATCB Board of Appeals will review appeals in accordance with their policies and procedures. In accordance with best practices and for the validity of the exam, test scores cannot be changed, but alternatives such as retesting may be allowed.

Acceptable Grounds for examination appeals are for the administration, examination content, and/or special accommodations. Examinees may submit an appeal concerning an examination administration, the content of an examination, or a special examination accommodation found on the CERTIFICATION, RETESTING, AND APPEALS page on the ATCB website.

Appeals can be sent to Appeals@atcb.org.

Retest
Please note that an examinee may only take the ATCBE three (3) times in a 12-month period. Examinees taking the ATCBE for state licensure may have further restrictions regarding re-testing. Please refer to your licensing board for more information. To re-take the ATCBE, you must re-apply at atcb.org.
