BALTIMORE, MD – June 25, 2025 - Prometric, a global leader in credentialing and skills development, today shared highlights from its annual Client Summit, which brought together education, workforce, and credentialing leaders from around the world. With keynote addresses from former U.S. Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona and Code.org Chief Academic Officer Pat Yongpradit, the summit detailed new approaches to preparing the workforce of tomorrow.

Dr. Cardona, who served under U.S. President Biden from March 2021 to January 2025, delivered remarks underscoring the urgent need for intentional collaboration across sectors to prepare learners for the jobs of the future.

“We need a bold and rapid evolution in how we provide pathway development, including assessment—not only in this country, but across the world,” Cardona said in his address. “Prometric has relationships with over 100 countries. Do you realize the power in this room to change the world?”

Cardona called on attendees to move beyond traditional silos and embrace innovative, cross-sector partnerships that connect education, government, and industry. “This isn’t a red issue or blue issue. It’s a student issue. If you wanted to assign a color to it, it would be a green issue,” he said.

The summit also featured a keynote titled, “Thrival Skills for the Age of AI: Educating the New Workforce,” presented by Yongpradit of Code.org, a nonprofit advancing computer science and AI education. Yongpradit explored how AI is transforming the nature of work and underscored the importance of preparing learners not just to survive, but thrive, in the evolving economy.

The summit brought together the most forward-thinking voices in certification, workforce development, and digital security—from federal and national agencies to global policymakers and industry executives. It provided a platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing best practices, and exploring Prometric’s ongoing innovations in assessment and credentialing.

“Education is the foundation of workforce development growth,” said Stuart Udell, CEO of Prometric. “This year’s summit brought to life the incredible opportunity we have to work across borders, sectors, and systems to help millions of people gain the credentials and skills they need to succeed.”
