Beginning Tuesday, March 11th, the Washington Department of Health and Prometric are pleased to announce the new online testing option for the English written/oral home care aide exam, remotely proctored by ProProctor™. Before scheduling to take your exam online, it is important to complete the following:

  1. Click on the link above and read ALL ProProctor Candidate Information.
  2. Review the ProProctor User Guide to see if the online exam option will work for you.
  3. Watch the video – this will provide you the requirements for your testing workspace and what to expect during your testing experience.
  4. Ensure that your laptop or desktop (Testing Device) meets the system and security check requirements and that you have downloaded the application. System checks are essential. Click here to check your system’s compatibility before you schedule your exam https://rpcandidate.prometric.com/

STOP – if you have not completed the above four items, do NOT schedule yourself for an online exam in order to avoid paying additional rescheduling fees. If you have completed these steps and do not qualify for online testing, please schedule your in-person knowledge exam in your Prometric Portal.

Please note: The online testing exam is for ENGLISH ONLY.

IMPORTANT – when scheduling your remote exam, you must select the time zone where you are testing or you could miss your appointment.

Application

The Department of Health (DOH) Application includes information required to schedule candidates for the certification exam. Prometric requires candidates to provide an email address to be scheduled for the certification exam. If an email address is not provided, you will NOT be able to schedule the certification exam. Payment for the exam must be included along with the complete DOH application submitted to DOH. Candidates will receive an approval email once they have met all requirements to take the certification exam.

Registration and Scheduling

The law requires applicants to complete 75 hours of training before taking the exam. Candidates may schedule their exams prior to completion of training but must not take the exam until after training is complete. Candidates must attest that training is complete at the time of scheduling the exam.

Once you’ve received an email from Prometric with your username and password, use the links below to access the WA Home Care Aide portals to complete your application, pay associated fees (credit/debit or voucher), and schedule/reschedule your testing appointment.

Appeals Process

Our goal is to provide a quality examination and a pleasant testing experience for every candidate. If you are dissatisfied with either and believe we can correct the problem, we would like to hear from you. We provide an opportunity for general comments at the end of your exam.  Your comments will be reviewed by our personnel, but you will not receive a direct response.

If you would like to submit an appeal concerning examination content, registration, scheduling or test administration (testing site procedures, equipment, personnel, ect.), please submit an appeal by visiting www.prometric.com/contact-us.

The Appeals Committee will review your concern and send you a written response within 20 business days of receipt.
