The preferred English test for healthcare professionals
The OET Test is the leading English language test for healthcare professionals. The test is recognised by 550+ organisations around the world including for migration and professional registration in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the US, the UK and more. The test is available across 12 healthcare professions and available in computer, paper and remote modes.
The OET Test on Computer is available at Prometric venues across the globe, with the Speaking sub-test taking place via Zoom. The computer-based test offers the same test material, question types, and instructions as the traditional paper-based test, but with the added benefits of being able to book sooner and get your results faster.
OET@Home® is delivered by Prometric with certain system requirements that need to be met. Please be sure to review the linked articles in ‘Helpful resources’ below to ensure you have a smooth test day experience.
For candidates who prefer taking the test on paper, the OET Test on Paper is available at Prometric venues in India, and other venues around the globe can be booked via the OET website.

OET@Home® system requirements
Please review these requirements before taking your test:
- Accepted devices: Use a laptop or desktop PC with a wired or built-in keyboard, mouse, and headset (no Bluetooth). Microsoft Surface or similar devices must be in laptop mode with browser zoom set to 100%.
- Power source for your device: Connect your device directly to a power source, not through a docking station.
- Web camera: Use a wired or built-in webcam that can move to show your surroundings (no Bluetooth).
- Headset/headphones: Use wired headphones or a wired headset (no Bluetooth).
- Device screen resolution and scale: Set your screen resolution and scale:
- Windows devices: 1920 x 1080 resolution, 100% scale, and “Laptop mode” for touchscreens.
- Mac devices: Use the default scale. 2014 or newer devices should exceed the recommended resolution.
- Device operating system: Use a compatible operating system:
- Windows devices: Windows 8.1 or higher.
- Mac devices: MacOS 10.13 or higher (not 13.0 to 13.2.1).
- Web browser: Use Google Chrome.
- Internet connection: Use strong internet, either Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet/LAN connection for the best performance. Be sure to use a cable long enough to move your webcam around 360 degrees.
- Internet speed: Ensure at least 5.0 Mbps download speed and 1.0 Mbps upload speed. Limit others in your home from using the internet during your test. Test your Internet speed before the exam by searching 'Internet Speed Test' online.
