1. Schedule your Exam

Welcome! Arriving at this page means you’re well on your way to scheduling an exam. There are now two ways to sit for your exam: in a test center or with a remote proctor:

Option 1: Schedule a test center exam appointment

Option 2: Schedule a remotely proctored exam appointment

Before selecting a remotely proctored exam, please perform the ProProctor system check to confirm your computer’s compatibility.

RESCHEDULING OR CANCELLING YOUR EXAM

If you must reschedule your exam appointment, please do so as soon as possible.

3. Fingerprint Service

To schedule your Fingerprinting Appointment, click here.

The Department requires all individuals applying for a resident insurance license to be fingerprinted. Fingerprinting must be done at a Prometric test center, using “live scan” technology, which digitally captures and transmits the fingerprints to the Utah Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Fingerprinting is not required for resident licensees adding a line of authority to an existing license; only for initial licensees.

If you want Prometric to scan your fingerprints immediately after you pass your exam, you must register for the fingerprinting processing service. We recommend you do not schedule your fingerprint appointment until you have passed your licensing exam. You will not be fingerprinted if you do not pass your exam.

NOTE: All fees are non-refundable.

As long as candidates have an appointment and have paid for the fingerprinting service, they are allowed to take their fingerprints then Prometric will submit them. We don't collect payment directly at the site.

You will need to:

• Immediately after passing the exam, use the kiosk at the test center to complete your license application online via Sircon or NIPR. The license application will include an FBI/BCI fingerprint fee ($13.25 FBI/$15.00 BCI) that must be paid by credit card during the online license application process. Print out your Sircon or NIPR confirmation page that you will need for showing to the test center supervisor as proof you have paid the FBI/BCI fees in order to be fingerprinted.

Note:

All candidates must pass computer-based testing (CBT) before being fingerprinted if the license the candidate is applying for requires an examination.

If a candidate is getting their fingerprints done on a day that is different from their test date, the candidate must show their passing score report to the TCA as well as proof of payment for their BCI/FBI fees.

4. Critical Demographic Data

Legal First, Last name and date of birth entered on your exam registration must match exactly as it appears on your government issued ID. Social Security Number must match exactly as it appears on your Social Security Card. Failure to enter the correct information will PREVENT you from applying for licensure. Mistakes are very costly and can take weeks for the exam vendor to fix. Have your ID in hand to verify the correct data when you register for your exam. Contact the exam vendor, Prometric for demographic data corrections.
