Individuals wishing to become an IRS Enrolled Agent must take and pass the Special Enrollment Exam (SEE). Here are the steps involved.
Before you sign up to take the SEE, please review the Enrolled Agent Special Enrollment Examination Candidate Information Bulletin. This bulletin will provide you with important information about the examination and the process for becoming an Enrolled Agent.
If you require testing accommodations such as those necessary for disabilities, please call Prometric at 888.226.9406, to obtain an accommodation request form.
The Special Enrollment Examination is a three part test. Prior to scheduling an examination appointment you must register for each part of the examination that you wish to take. First time test takers must follow these steps to establish a registration account and schedule an examination:
If you have tested before, access your existing registration account and follow the prompts to select, schedule and pay for an examination.
After registering for an examination, if you need to schedule, reschedule or cancel an appointment, you must enter your PTIN and the first four letters of your last name to access your registration information.
Read the full detailed test specifications to become familiar with the content of each part of the examination.
Please review the Candidate Information Bulletin for test content and scoring information, test center regulations and ID policies, registration and scheduling issues and contact information.
Don’t forget to print out your confirmation!
