Individuals wishing to become an IRS Enrolled Agent must take and pass the Special Enrollment Exam (SEE). Here are the steps involved.
Effective March 1, 2016, all first time users must create a new Prometric account. Access step by step instructions on how to create an account and establish a new user ID and password.
Before you sign up to take the SEE, please review the Enrolled Agent Special Enrollment Examination Candidate Information Bulletin. This bulletin will provide you with important information about the examination and the process for becoming an Enrolled Agent.

The Special Enrollment Examination is a three part test. The Examination parts can be taken in any order.
The easiest way to schedule an exam is online.
After scheduling your exam, please review your appointment confirmation email to ensure that you have the correct exam, date, time, and testing location.
If you require testing accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or other accommodations, please call Prometric at 800.967.1139 to obtain an accommodation request packet. Prior to submitting an accommodation request packet, please ensure that you have an existing Prometric Account. Reasonable testing accommodations are provided to allow candidates with documented disabilities an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.
Test Accommodations Candidates should submit a completed accommodation request packet, including their Prometric ID Number, along with professional documentation of the disability to help us determine the necessary testing arrangements. Thirty days’ advance notice is required for all testing arrangements. There is no additional charge for these accommodations.
Testing fees are generally not refundable or transferable. In very limited situations such as death of the candidate or accidentally signing up for the examination twice for the same date and time, refunds will be considered. Access the Refund Form and Submit the completed Refund Request Form to Prometric per instructions.
If you are requesting a response concerning the registration, scheduling or test administration, please read the below message carefully. Prometric Candidate Care will review your concern and respond within 20 business days of receipt. Access the Appeal Form to request an appeal.
