New York Insurance Tests

Here are 6 basic steps to get you ready for your New York Insurance Exam. If you already know when/where you want to take your test go to Step 2 “Create or Login to Your Account."


    Check Appointment Availability

You can review dates, times and locations and then decide on the testing appointment that is most convenient for you before you register and pay.

 

    Create or Login to Your Account

Before scheduling your test, please create an account or log into your existing account. To create an account, you must:

  • Select “NY” as your state
  • Select “Insurance” as the business type
  • Enter your eligibility number (SSN)

    Schedule Your Test

Once you are set up and logged into your account, you are able to schedule your test. Just enter your eligibility number (Social Security Number/SSN) and the first four letters of your last name. PLEASE NOTE: you must have an account and select NY’s insurance test in order to schedule online.


    Review the Test Content Outlines

Prepare for your upcoming test by carefully reading the Test Content Outlines which have been prepared to help you successfully pass the test.

 

    Download the License Information Bulletin

Please download the License Information Bulletin to find more information regarding fees, scheduling policies, scoring information and FAQs.

 

    Apply for License Through the NY Dept. of Financial Services

Once you have passed the licensing exam (if an exam is required), you will need to submit your license application to the Department, along with any required paperwork. Please Note: You must wait 48 hours from having passed the exam to apply. To apply online click here.
