Assuring the Work Force Has the Knowledge to Protect the Public

Prometric, a leading provider of testing and assessment solutions, has developed and delivered food safety exams since 1989. Since then retailers, grocers, restaurants, manufacturers, processors, health departments and convenience stores have used Prometric certification exams to help keep the public safe and protect their businesses from the consequences of food safety incidents.

We are one of just five certification providers accredited by ANSI-CFP to offer food manager exams to the industry. Our Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM) exam has been ANSI accredited since 2003.

Engaging with the Industry to Drive Improvement

Prometric is an active member of the Conference for Food Protection (CFP) and holds two voting seats on the Council II Food Protection Manager Certification Committee (FPMCC). This committee brings together representatives from the food industry, government, consumer organizations and academia in order to:

  • Identify and address emerging problems of food safety and to formulate recommendations
  • Maintain the standards of accreditation of Food Protection Manager certification programs
  • Standardize Food Protection Manager certification across the United States

Prometric also attends leading food safety industry events, including the annual conferences of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) and the Central Atlantic States of Food and Drug Officials (CASA), to connect with industry practitioners and advisors, and to remain current with the latest developments, research and hot topics within food safety.

Relying on ANSI-CFP Accreditation for High-Quality Testing

As the voice of U.S. standards, ANSI is a recognized organization CFP uses to conduct accreditation activities on its behalf. An ANSI accredited food safety exam offers:

  • Universal standards with universal acceptance
  • A reliable and legally defensible exam
  • Third-party accreditation supported by a best-practices approach
  • Currency with industry practices and regulations
  • A certification program vs a training certificate
