  1. How do I become a Prometric proctor?

    Apply to become a certified Prometric Food Safety proctor here and receive your Professional Safety Trainer (PST) proctor number.

  2. As a proctor, will I be able to view the examination results online?

    Once scores are available, proctors are emailed the scores for each class.

  3. Does the Prometric website offer registered proctors the ability to list exam offerings?

    No, at this time there is not an area on the Prometric website to list classes.

  4. How will participants who successfully passed the exam be able to retrieve their certificates?

    Certificates are mailed to the proctor, who then issues them to the students.

  5. How do I order examinations?

    Examinations can be ordered online using your proctor information.

  6. What is the shipping turnaround time to receive the examinations and what method are they shipped?

    Exams should be ordered 10 business days prior to your class date. Exams are shipped via UPS.

  7. How are the examinations sent for processing?

    Exams must be sent back to Prometric via a traceable method such as UPS, USPS, or FedEx.

  8. What is the turnaround time for results?

    When taking the exam in an Internet-based testing environment, the candidate will receive the results immediately upon completion. The license (wall certificate) and wallet card will be mailed within 10 days.

    If the exams are delivered by paper and pencil, they must be shipped for scoring which will take longer. The license (wall certificate) and wallet card will be shipped within five business days from the time Prometric receives the exams from proctors.

  9. What percentage score must the student receive to gain the CPFM certification?

    Students are required to receive a 70% or higher to receive the certification.

  10. How many questions are on the CPFM examination?

    There are a total of 80 questions on the examination.

  11. Is there a time limit on the CPFM examination?

    Yes, each student must complete the exam within 2 hours.

  12. How does taking the Prometric food safety exam affect my students’ compliance?

    The Prometric exam is ANSI-accredited so it 100% comparable to the three other ANSI-accredited examinations.

  13. Is one exam better than another?

    No, all of the exams must meet the same requirements and will put you in compliance with your local regulations.

  14. Will the local health department accept this certification?

    Yes, as long as the exam remains a requirement by your local or state health official, the Prometric exam will meet the requirements.
