Update 5/15/15: Prometric’s contract to provide cosmetologist and barber test administration services for the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation and associated Boards ends on 5/31/15 and we are no longer accepting new applications. Any application received after today will be returned. Seats are still available in our computer-based testing centers through 5/31/15 for the written/theory exams only for candidates who applied previously; all practical appointments are full at this time. Refunds will be provided to any candidates who paid for exams but could not test before the contract end date; please go to https://www.prometric.com/en-us/contact-us/pages/default.aspx and complete the refund request form. Contact the Department and/or the Board for information on testing options beginning in June.
Effective Immediately, the Maryland Board of Cosmetology has temporarily suspended the scoring of Blood Spill for all candidates who simulate a Blood Spill. Instead raters will provide feedback to help candidates understand their strengths and weaknesses and to seek additional training if necessary. There will be further communication shared to all MD Cosmetology candidates as the Board evaluates its options. Be advised that if an actual blood spill occurs during the practical exam, the candidate will be required to stop immediately and perform the correct blood spill procedures on him/herself. This will be graded on a pass/fail basis as a critical component.
If you are interested in scheduling your on-site testing event with us between January 1st, 2013 and June 31st, 2013, please refer to the attached guidelines below on how to reserve a testing date.
