As President and Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Kernan manages all aspects of corporate operations, including global test development, infrastructure, testing and results management to ensure the delivery of more than 7 million certification or licensure examinations each year. Mr. Kernan is continually focused on the operational improvements that provide benefit to Prometric’s client base and the candidates it serves. He is directly responsible for driving Prometric’s global expansion strategy and for setting the direction of the company in the rapidly growing testing and assessment market.
Mr. Kernan joined Prometric in August of 1997 as Director of International Development and has held a series of increasingly significant roles with the company since then, including the position of Senior Vice President & General Manager of global operations where he managed the company through many of its most significant business operations transformations. Prior to becoming President and CEO of Prometric, he served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and oversaw all business operations, including the global test center network, the global help desk, all contact centers, on-demand testing, candidate support and Prometric’s global account management organization.
Before joining Prometric, he was employed by American Airlines, where he developed and managed airline alliances in the Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Mr. Kernan graduated from Connecticut College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and economics. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.
