Prometric continues to assess the developments associated with the spread of the COVID-19 virus in countries around the world. We review daily the status of ordinances from local, state, federal, and country-specific jurisdictions, as well as revised guidance from health policy organizations such as the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). We are also in regular communication with those organizations that entrust us with the delivery of their licensure and certification programs. Our goal remains to provide these organizations and the candidates they represent with the most appropriate options for testing that provide for individual health, safety and well-being.
The following information represents the most recent updates regarding regional resumption of testing activities based on this review.
We have now resumed testing in more than 90 percent of our global test centers, at either full or limited occupancy, based on local and governmental mandates. Our site status list reflects the operational standing of each test center following COVID-related closures. We continue to open new appointments, so check back frequently if trying to schedule an exam.
Please note that Prometric occasionally has to close sites with limited notice due to unforeseen events, such as extreme weather, natural disaster, pandemic, power outages, or other unexpected occurrences. A list of those test center can be found on our test center closures page.
If your exam appointment is impacted due to continued site closures or regional restrictions, depending on your program’s requirements, you will receive an email notification informing you that your appointment has been rescheduled with your new test date and location, or has been canceled with instructions for how to reschedule for a future date. For candidates who would like to reschedule their exam for a different day or location than Prometric assigned, please refer to the instructions provided in your original reschedule confirmation email.
Beginning August 3, 2020, cancellation and rescheduling fees will be re-instated, where applicable by testing program. Candidates who have their appointments canceled or rescheduled as a result of continued site closures or regional restrictions will not be penalized in this circumstance and are entitled to one free reschedule for their exam. Additionally, candidates who are unable to test due to COVID-19 illness or impact should follow our standard escalation procedure by utilizing the Test Taker “Contact Us” form and choose "Request a Refund."

Please note that some open sites are still only available for essential services programs, as designated by our essential client list. Prometric continues to follow state and local government guidelines when discussing with our clients which programs qualify as essential. Enhanced Test Center Policies
Working with third-party experts, including leading epidemiologists from Johns Hopkins University, Prometric has adopted enhanced safety measures in response to COVID-19. Test Center Cleanliness
We have fully reviewed all test center operations and continue to reinforce expected actions at all test centers around the world that will mitigate the risk of spread of the virus at these locations. These procedures include cleaning high-touch surfaces (ex. test stations, keyboard keys, mouse, etc.) before we open, in-between each candidate, and at the end of the day, and providing adequate PPE, cleaning supplies, and training to our staff on new cleaning protocols.
Candidate Reminders to Protect Yourself and Others
- Wash your hands frequently with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or soap & water for at least 20 seconds.
- Wear a mask while in the test center at all times.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth, including through your mask.
