ACVD Certifying Examination

American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD)

ACVD is the official specialty organization accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association in 1982 and charged with maintenance of high standards of postgraduate training in veterinary dermatology. The purpose of the ACVD is to advance and promote excellence in veterinary dermatology, oversee postgraduate training in veterinary dermatology, sponsor research, and organize scientific and educational programs for both veterinary dermatologists and general practitioners.  

Scheduling

Candidates must register with ACVD for their Certifying Examination, pay and receive a candidate ID number.  You will need your ACVD candidate ID number in order to schedule.

For the November administration you will be taking your exam remotely.

  • Before you schedule your exam, check that your computer meets the technical requirements: click here
      • Your computer also must support resolution of 1920x1080. Please note that the system check does not check this technical requirement so this must be done manually.

  • Chromebooks, tablets and iPads are not compatible with remote proctoring.

Identification requirements

You will be required to present one valid, government-issued photo ID with a signature (e.g., driver's license or passport).

The name on the identification must match the name that appears on your examination application. If there is a discrepancy, you must notify the ACVD Executive Secretary (itchypet@aol.com) at least 14 days before the examination. Your middle name is not considered when matching the name on your ID to your application. Name changes or corrections cannot be made within 7 business days of the scheduled testing date. If you do not have your acceptable identification, you will not be permitted to take the exam.

Cancel Policy

You must cancel your exam at least 5 days before your appointment date. There is a $35 fee (paid to Prometric) for cancelling your appointment 5 to 29 days before your appointment date. There is no charge for cancellations more than 29 days before your appointment date.
