In line with our evolving business needs Prometric will not continue to offer GenCat testing as of August 31, 2021 and registration has been closed. Please refer to your city sponsor for alternative testing mediums, questions, or concerns.

Prometric will no longer be referring candidates to Builder’s Book Depot or any specific vendor to purchase reference materials for our Construction Catalog exams. Please refer to the Bulletin of Information here for your exam to determine the materials you need.

With over 40 years of experience, Prometric offers jurisdictions a proven methodology of psychometrically tested and legally defensible exam development and delivery.  We deliver over 17,000 construction licensure exams to almost 300 jurisdictions annually.  In addition to offering exams in 73 different construction trades, Prometric offers most of these trades exams in the last 3 versions of the applicable industry code.  Thus, whether you're looking for an exam referenced to the 2009 UPC code, the 2012 IMC code or the 2008 NEC code we're sure we offer something that fits your licensure requirements.

Prometric offers 2 basic plans for delivery of our exams.  We offer a Basic Service program where the jurisdiction determines the exam schedule, has the use of their own facility for testing and provides a lower exam price for the candidate or a Full-Service testing program where we provide the testing facility, handle candidate scheduling and processing.  Whichever plan you choose, Prometric will work as partners with your jurisdiction in walking you through the scheduling and exam delivery process.

In addition, Prometric recognizes that passing a licensure exam is often only one step in the licensure process.  All sponsoring jurisdictions still determines who they recognize as qualified to sit for an exam and has the right to collect any application, licensure or other administrative fees from licensure applicants that they deem necessary.

Furthermore, there are no contracts to sign and there are no financial obligations on the jurisdiction.   All exam fees are paid by the candidate. To become an exam sponsor and start having Prometric exams delivered to your constituents we simply ask you to complete the Sponsorship Enrollment Form on the left specifying which exams you would like to recognize for your jurisdiction as well as choosing a few particular details such as "cut score" so we know how you would like to run your program.  We can begin administering exams for your jurisdiction in as little as 4 weeks from receipt of your enrollment form.
