ProsoftTraining Selects Prometric and Its Internet-based Testing Capabilities to Grow Prosoft's Asia Pacific Business

(BALTIMORE, MD - September 30, 2002) Prometric, a part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) and the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services, today announced a new five-year contract with ProsoftTraining, a leading world-wide provider of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) certifications and curricula. Under the agreement, Prometric will be the exclusive deliverer of the exams provided by ProsoftTraining in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, Prosoft will use Prometric's Internet-based testing system to deliver proctored exams at academic and government-sponsored training sites.

"After a year of wide-spread layoffs and job freezes in the IT industry, market analysts at IDC project that the IT skills shortage - and by extension the heated competition for proven IT talent - will soon reemerge as a significant business challenge as many market sectors return to previous growth rates."

This current and projected demand continues to fuel the growth and importance of IT certification programs, such as the ones offered through ProsoftTraining.

"By expanding our relationship with Prometric, we are expanding the availability and convenience of our services for our own testing partners and candidates," said Jerry Baird, Chairman and CEO of ProsoftTraining. "In addition, with the on-demand capabilities of Prometric's Internet-based testing system, we are able to expand our delivery capabilities, meet the growing global demand for our services - especially in the Asia-Pacific region - and keep program cost in line and affordable.

Among its many programs and certifications, ProsoftTraining offers CIW, which has emerged as a leading professional-level certification for ICT job roles.

"By working collaboratively with Prosoft and by providing a suite of tailored testing services, Prometric created a unique solution that helps Prosoft to meet its business objectives and to grow its global program," said Alison Indrisano, Senior Vice President of Client Services and Support for Prometric.
