Michael Brannick Joins Brainbench Board

(CHANTILLY, VA - August 29, 2002) BrainbenchTM, the global leader in online skills measurement, announced today that Michael Brannick, the President and CEO of Prometric, a part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC). and the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services, has agreed to join the Brainbench board of directors.

Mr. Brannick has been involved in a broad range of developmental and research activities in the education industry for more than two decades. Prior to joining Prometric, he served as president and chief executive officer of Peterson's, also a part of The Thomson Corporation.  Before joining Peterson's, Mr. Brannick served as senior vice president of business development for Jostens Learning Corporation. He also spent eight years with the National Education Corporation in a variety of senior marketing roles.

Mr. Brannick holds an M.A. degree in industrial psychology from California State University at Long Beach, and specialty certifications from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and the University of Southern California.
