Prometric Teams with Sun Microsystems to Offer Discount Technology Training and Certification

Baltimore, Md. – November 10, 2003 – Prometric, a part of The Thomson Corporation (TSX:  TOC; NYSE:  TOC), the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services, today announced that Sun Microsystems, Inc., Prometric and academic institutions are collaborating to offer students the Sun Academic Initiative - Sun technology training and certification exams at a discount.

"Today it is more critical than ever before for institutions to have access to training and online courses in order to provide resources for the workforce of tomorrow," said Dave Nelson, senior director, Sun Academic Initiative for Sun Microsystems. "The work that Thomson Prometric and Sun are collaborating on will enable us to extend our reach to schools and research institutions around the world, who have not previously had access to a broad array of technology courses.  Our collective goal is to reach tens of thousands of students during the next twelve months."

The Sun Academic Initiative offers Sun technology training through not-for-profit institutions.  Eligible institutions become Authorized Sun Education Centers and these Centers provide training to help prime students for Sun technology certification exams.  These students are given, at no cost, access to online courses and discounted Sun certification exams.  The courses and exams delivered through the Sun Academic Initiative introduce students to Sun Microsystems technologies, prepare them for industry-leading certification and equip them with marketable IT job skills.

"We're very pleased to continue growing our relationship with Sun Microsystems," said Alison Indrisano, Thomson Prometric senior vice president of Client Services and Support.  "The Sun Academic Initiative gives people a unique opportunity to take advantage of Sun technology training courses and a chance to confirm their knowledge through certification."

Sun Academic Initiative exams are available worldwide through the Prometric global testing center network.  Visit www.prometric.com/sai for complete program information and exam registration.
