Prometric Awarded Comprehensive Testing Contract with Florida Department of Health
Program will use new technology to shorten the certification process for Nursing Assistants
Baltimore, MD., October 23, 2007 – Prometric, the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services, today announced that the Florida Department of Health has signed a multi-year multi-million dollar contract with Prometric for comprehensive certification testing services related to its Nursing Assistant Competency Evaluation Examination. Prometric and the Florida Department of Health will leverage proven program operations along with technology enhancements to significantly shorten the time it takes for Nursing Assistants to become certified in the state.
Using Prometric for its complete testing solution, including registration and scheduling, pre-determination of candidate eligibility and the delivery of both the knowledge and clinical parts of the test, will allow the Florida Department of Health to reduce the candidate certification cycle by several weeks. This shortened timeline will allow qualified Nursing Assistant candidates to become certified much more quickly, accelerating their placement into the long-term care workforce. Contributing specifically to this hastened cycle are on-line registration tools, computer-based exam administration with immediate on-site scoring, and faster turnaround times for background screening due to electronic fingerprint capture and processing.
The written and knowledge exams, previously offered via paper and pencil, will be delivered using Prometric’s secure Internet-based platform at over 100 regional and in-facility test locations spread throughout Florida. Prometric hosts over 3,000 test events for over 18,000 candidates each year.
