Prometric Appoints VP of Global Security
Baltimore, Md. – February 25, 2003 - Prometric, a part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC, TSX: TOC) and the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services, has designated John (Jack) C. Killorin - a former veteran Special Agent with 26 years of experience with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) - to the position of Vice President of Global Security. This level of testing security focus will ensure Prometric test sponsors' exams are delivered with the highest levels of exam integrity and confidence, guaranteeing only qualified test takers pass.
"The credibility and validity of our computer-based testing process, from creating the test to processing test taker results, relies on the quality of our security standards, " said Michael Brannick, CEO and president of Prometric. "This appointment of a new Vice President of Global Security signifies that Prometric is taking its solid security program to a new level. We're joining the ranks of numerous other companies such as GE, Intel and GM in converging and centralizing security management at the senior level."
Prometric takes security measures at every step in the testing process, from test development to test delivery, and all points in between. As Vice President, Global Security, Mr. Killorin will manage Prometric end-to-end security operation practices, including test content protection, test procedure management, data storage, facility operations and human resources management.
Killorin retired from the ATF in November 2002 as Special Agent responsible for the Atlanta Field Division, and as a member of the Senior Executive Service of the United States government. His impressive professional experience also includes serving the United States Navy with the River Patrol Force in Vietnam where he received two Navy Commendation Medals for Valor and a Purple Heart.
As a respected law-enforcement professional and experienced critical incident planner and leader, Mr. Killorin even served as an expert spokesperson during the Washington-area sniper investigations last October, and appeared on national television programs, including CNN and MSNBC.
Mr. Killorin's professional affiliations include the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and Member of the Board, Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange.
Mr. Killorin attended St. Johns University and currently resides in Baltimore.
