Prometric Signs Multi-year Agreement with the Linux Professional Institute
(BALTIMORE, MD - March 25, 2002) Prometric (www.prometric.com), a part of The Thomson Corporation (TSE: TOC) and the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services, has secured a multi-year contract with the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) (www.lpi.org) to deliver its Level One and Level Two certifications.
"Today's marketplace has identified a growing need for a standardized, multi-national and respected program to certify levels of individual expertise within Linux," says LPI's president Chuck Mead. "Our alliance with Prometric makes it easier and more convenient for Linux professionals to register online and to find a testing center closer to their home or office.
"Certainly, a Linux certification establishes a professional's competence within a Linux-related function," adds Mead. "Certification also conveys competence to a potential contractor and helps a professional to establish and follow a specific career path."
"By partnering with Prometric, LPI now benefits from our extensive global network and unrivaled experience in helping clients to grow the volume and credibility of their certification and testing programs," says Jeffery McKnight, Prometric's Senior Vice President Global Sales and Channel Services. "The alliance expands LPI's global reach and accessibility of Linux professionals around the world."
The tests are now available at Authorized Prometric Testing Centers located around the world. LPI testing candidates will have the ability to register with regional call center assistance or online 24 hours a day through www.2test.com, Prometric's Web-based registration service.
