Thomson Prometric and IACM Align to Bring Online Practice Examinations to India School Students

BALTIMORE, MD. JUNE 01, 2004 - Thomson PROMETRIC, THE GLOBAL LEADER IN TECHNOLOGY-ENABLED TESTING AND ASSESSMENT SERVICES, and part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), today introduced its three year agreement with Institute of Advanced Computing and Management (IACM), a ISO9001-2000 certified company listed among the top 20 IT training companies in India.  The two organizations aligned to meet the growing demand for online practice examinations in India schools using Thomson Prometric Internet-based testing services.

IACM is launching online practice exams for India's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) school students.  By using Internet-based testing, students will be able to assess their learning at various levels as their studies progress and identify any potential areas of weakness for additional learning needs.  IACM developed the exam questions in unity with the syllabi of the schools, and the exams will be available chapter-wise, module-wise and for the complete course-book.

"IACM chose to partner with Thomson Prometric because its Internet-based testing solution is ready to implement and is a good fit for our business model," said Mr.Ravinder Goel, Director, IACM.  "And, the name Thomson Prometric has a strong brand value throughout India."

"We're excited about our collaboration with IACM," said Alison Indrisano, senior vice president of Global Operations for Thomson Prometric.  "Our alliance provides further support of Thomson Prometric's commitment to growing knowledge assessment in India.  We have the technology, expertise and team of experts around the globe that can help IACM achieve its desired results."

Thomson Prometric's Internet-based test delivery makes it easy to author, publish, deliver and administer exams online conveniently, anytime and anywhere with Internet access.  The Web-based testing tool can be used independently or as a supplement to a testing program with the delivery of pre-test or practice exams, or other low-stakes assessments.  Test sponsors receive full e-commerce support, immediate scoring and full-bodied Web-based results reporting.

IACM Internet-based testing commenced in India May 15, 2004.
