Thomson Prometric and Editora Gráfica Terra Ltda. Join to Provide Learning Assessment in Brazil
Baltimore, Md. – January 21, 2004 – Thomson Prometric, the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services and part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), today announced their agreement with Editora Gráfica Terra LTDA, a leading publishing company in Brazil. Editora Gráfica Terra will use Thomson Prometric's Internet-based testing tool, offering its customers the ability to assess their knowledge of the information technology materials covered in Editora Gráfica Terra's self-study publications.
Forecasts estimate approximately 5,000 – 8,000 Editora Gráfica Terra exams delivered during the first six months using Thomson Prometric's Internet-based testing.
"We have a very optimistic expectation regarding our partnership with Thomson Prometric, said Jales Júnior Martins Borges, Director-President, Editora Gráfica Terra Ltda. "Editora Grafica Terra's experience and tradition combined with Thomson Prometric's largest and most highly regarded delivery of global certifications and assessments virtually guarantees a successful partnership."
Editora Gráfica Terra is one of the largest publishing companies in Brazil; one of their divisions, Terra Multimídia, is responsible for the publishing of all their multimedia products. Editora Gráfica Terra publishes their booklet series bi-weekly. These booklets include CD-ROMs covering topics such as management and Web publishing.
Thomson Prometric's Internet-based testing offers flexibility in authoring, updating and administering tests, and in tracking and analyzing test results. Internet-based testing provides reliable exam delivery, full eCommerce support, immediate scoring and a robust Web-based reporting tool.
Including an Internet-based driven assessment tool with their self-study materials gives Editora Gráfica Terra customers the ability to take practice tests throughout the process of their preparation and a final test at the end of a series. Assessing and testing throughout the learning process measures knowledge levels and confirms knowledge gained.
"We are very pleased about our collaboration with Editora Gráfica Terra," said Alison Indrisano, Thomson Prometric senior vice president of Client Services and Support. "Editora Gráfica Terra's reputation as a quality provider of technology learning to the Brazilian marketplace is impressive. It's our intent that using Thomson Prometric's Internet-based testing will only help further that credibility. Our experience in helping clients better understand their business through measurement has been unparalleled for more than a decade. It's this experience that will aid in the mutual success of our businesses."
Editora Gráfica Terra will begin using the Thomson Prometric Internet-based testing system January 2004.
