Prometric - Information Technology Certification - Technology-enabled Testing – Press Release

CompTIA, Novell, Prometric To Help Guide Certification Magazine

(CHICAGO, IL - September 2, 2002) Certification Magazine, the magazine for certified professionals of Information Technology, is announcing three new industry leaders have joined the CertMag Editorial Advisory Board to help guide future content of the popular monthly magazine. Taking seats on the board immediately are: Michael Brannick, President and CEO of Prometric, a part of the Thomson Corp.; Brian McCarthy, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association; and Aaron Osmond, Managing Director of Novell Education. The three leaders in the certification training and testing arenas will help direct CertMag editors as they plan magazine content and direction, joining representatives from companies such as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Cisco and Oracle.

Considered an industry thought leader, Brannick brings a fresh perspective on the role and importance of assessment and testing in improving learning outcomes and the value of IT certifications.  "Certification Magazine continues to distinguish itself as a credible editorial voice," Brannick said. "I am pleased to have an opportunity to work with my peers to help further shape the direction of CertMag and the value it delivers to certification candidates, exam sponsors and the IT industry."

McCarthy brings to the board an industry-wide perspective from CompTIA, the largest provider of vendor-neutral certification programs, including the popular CompTIA A+ credential. "With hundreds of certification programs available to today's IT professional, it's vital that readers have a 'big-picture' view of the industry," McCarthy said. "Many of these programs have great synergies between them, so it's incumbent on CertMag's Editorial Board to provide editors with the guidance to create editorial content of real value to these mission-critical certified professionals."

Osmond's role on the board will be to represent Novell, an industry leader and one of the pioneering companies in IT certification. "The value of certification is an important topic to many IT professionals," Osmond said. "With its diverse board of representatives from so many certification vendors and test providers, Certification Magazine is positioned to present readers with a variety of information that will help advance their careers. I'm glad to help CertMag editors present readers with unbiased information on Novell and other certification programs."
