Prometric Secures West Indies Contract:

BorderCom International

(BALTIMORE, MD - December 17, 2001) Prometric, a Thomson Learning business, the global leader in computer-based testing and assessment and part of the Thomson Corporation, (TSE:TOC) today announced its first contract with a West Indies firm, BorderCom International based in Trinidad and Tobago. BorderCom is a leading technology training and education company in the Caribbean, North America, and the United Kingdom. BorderCom certification programs are initiatives of the government of Trinidad & Tobago to create professional standards amongst service industry workers.

BorderCom will use PRIME, Prometric's Internet Testing Tool, as its Web-based testing platform. PRIME is the most effective and efficient method of authoring, publishing, and delivering Web-based exams. BorderCom is expected to deliver more than 20,000 exams this year to professionals testing for its proprietary certification program, "Certified Passport Engineer," as well as through a national level Customer Service Certification developed in part by Ernst & Young.

Colin Miles, Director of New Projects for BorderCom International, said that the choice of PRIME was an easy one. "As the market leader in technology-based testing, Prometric brings instant credibility as a partner provider. As a Web-based testing platform, PRIME is the most powerful and comprehensive system to complement our e-learning initiatives. With Prometric and PRIME, we can now meet the market demand for an end-to-end e-learning/e-testing system for our client's product and job skill certification needs."

"Prometric is thrilled to expand its client network into the West Indies and bring our world-renowned, computer-based testing and assessment services to our mutual certification candidates in this promising region", stated Jeff McKnight, Prometric Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Channel Management.
