Counsel: (Listen) Mrs. Serrano, before the lunch break you told us that you had been a dancer at a gentlemen's club.
Counsel: (Listen) So how do you support yourself and your two children?
Counsel: (Listen) So, in other words, you are what is known as a Confidential Informant.
Counsel: (Listen) And exactly how does that work?
Counsel: (Listen) And, Mrs. Serrano, on June 25th of this year did you, in fact, make a controlled purchase at 2473 Northwest Alondra Boulevard in this city?
Counsel: (Listen) Your Honor, as agreed previously, we put this witness on the stand out of order because the forensic chemist is out of town until tomorrow. [PAUSE] (Listen) We would like at this time, however, to introduce and have marked as People's Exhibit 4, this bindle containing 5.25 grams of crystal meth with a purity of 70%.
Judge: (Listen) Hearing no objections from defense counsel, the exhibit will be marked as People's 4. As discussed earlier, this will be subject to defense counsel's examination of the chemist's qualifications and experience. [PAUSE] (Listen) The Court will then decide whether he qualifies as an expert witness, and whether the laboratory's determination as to the weight, content and purity of the sample has been sufficiently established.
Counsel: (Listen) Mrs. Serrano, is this the bindle that you purchased on that day?
Counsel: (Listen) Mrs. Serrano, please describe for the Court what you observed inside of the apartment on the day you went there to purchase the drugs.
Counsel: (Listen) From previous testimony we learned that in one of the closets there was, besides the stash of bindles, an automatic .38-caliber pistol and two loaded clips. [PAUSE] (Listen) There was also found in a night table drawer, a purple make-up bag with $680 dollars in mostly 10- and 20-dollar bills. Were you aware of this?
Counsel: (Listen) I have no further questions of this witness, Your Honor, but I request that she be subject to recall.
