It has recently been brought to the attention of the South Carolina Department of Insurance that some South Carolina licensed resident insurance producers may be taking continuing education courses from an unapproved sponsor or instructor. The purpose of this notice is to inform all resident South Carolina insurance producers to first check the approved course list on Prometric's website (www.prometric.com/southcarolina) or contact Prometric at 800-490-6551. Any CE course hours earned from a course taken from an unapproved sponsor or instructor will result in the credit hours being declined.
Please keep a copy of all course completion records in case verification is required at a later date.
Producers can use Online CE Services for the following:

CE Compliance Requirements
As of March 19, 2008, producers are no longer required to provide their SSNs to CE providers or to Prometric. See the FAQs below for details.
Resident producers subject to a CE requirement may comply by earning 24 credit hours in each two-year period ending May 1 in even-numbered years.
Nonresident producers must pay their annual CE fee but do not have to make a submission of a letter of certification, PDB printout or other hard copy documentation. See the FAQ's for details.
The annual fee for resident and nonresident producers is $7.50 per year ($15.00 for two years). Producers will not be compliant unless the fee is paid for both years of a biennium. For complete details, click here for FAQ's.
